About Samuel Suh
Samuel Suh is a Singer and Songwriter, he was born in Cameroon and currently resides in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He grew up in Douala and since from his high school years, Samuel and his friends would sometimes have freestyling sessions with the desks and a beatboxer providing the sound. He would display his skills to his friends and classmates with a unique style of delivery and excellent prowess in rhyming and harmonies.
Born in a family of 6 and growing up with 5 sisters, gospel music has always played a major role in his childhood days as he recounts "Mum was a deaconess and she would always play worship and praise songs all day long".
He grew up listening to other genres of music including Hip Hop, Soul, Reggae, RnB, and more. This has all helped him to develop more versatility in his sound.
Being a lover of Hip Hop, and also the Rastafari movement after moving to South Africa, Samuel Suh, priorly known as 1 Zeal, released an 8 track EP titled “The Lion Boy EP Vol 1” in 2014. In 2016 he again released a 5 track EP titled “The Lion Boy EP Vol 2”.
He has also released visuals for songs like "Welcome to Jozi", "Terre", "Ca Va Aller" and "I Do" which gained recognition and was featured on major music platforms including, magazines, radio, and TV stations.
In 2020, after recording over 17 songs for a new project he had planned to soon release, Samuel received the inspiration to record his first-ever Gospel Reggae song titled "Rivers". After recording and listening to this song, he says "I knew exactly this was my calling and the sole purpose of my music".
Samuel Suh believes his main mission through his music is to bring to light, the good news of Jesus Christ to the people of every nation.
He has currently recorded a new EP titled "Victory" and has recently shot the video for the song "Rivers" which will be featured on this project including other songs like "The Root of David" "One Word" "Victory" "By Name", "Like Eagles" and "The Son"
He currently describes his style of music as "Good News Music" which is the fusion of Gospel and Reggae music. He aims to share with the world, through his music, the good news of Jesus Christ, the Risen King.
